It's great to see Ray and Dave perform "Waterloo Sunset" on acoustic guitar without the rest of the band. This beautiful song - musically and lyrically - is just one of the many masterpieces created by Ray Davies. He is one of the major song writers of the 20th & 21st centuries. The style and subject matter unquestionably original.
The lyrics of "Waterloo Sunset" (released in 1967) seem to be based on experiences in his own life, written in the vernacular of the day - The Sixties - and the song remains a remarkable work of art over thirty years' later.
